Malene Dam (b. in Herning, Denmark) is an artist and curator currently at the Center for Curatorial Studies at Bard College. She engages in an array of issues related to contemporary society, most recently with a strong focus on queer temporality, histories of feminism, education, and conflict. Her research-based practice addresses temporal and spatial notions of cultural collectivizations, inquiring how discourses situate themselves as knowledge. She holds a BFA from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and a MFA in Photography and Media from CalArts.
Classroom Case Study is an on-going collaboration between Heather M. O’Brien and Malene Dam. The first iteration took place over the course of a week in March 2012 at California Institute of the Arts (CalArts). The work included a series of conversations focused on what it means to be educated, to facilitate, to listen, and to learn at CalArts.
